Masked Aadhaar Card: Fully Explained (2022)

What is Masked Aadhaar Card?

A masked Aadhaar card looks and functions similarly to a conventional downloaded e-Aadhaar card, but it hides a section of your Aadhaar number to secure your privacy. Your unique Aadhaar number’s first eight digits are masked and denoted with a “x.” Only the last four digits of your Aadhaar number are visible on the masked Aadhaar card.

However, other than the first eight digits of your Aadhaar number, no additional information on this particular Aadhaar card would be masked. As a result, your photograph, date of birth, address, and other personal information would be displayed in the digital copy of your masked Aadhaar card.

Is the Aadhaar masked card valid, and should I use it?

A masked Aadhaar card is valid in the same way as a regular Aadhaar card is, and you can use it for KYC and eKYC verifications. It’s worth noting that the information displayed on a masked Aadhaar card is identical to that displayed on a standard Aadhaar card, with the exception of the first eight numbers. In most circumstances, companies only need an individual’s name, address, and date of birth for KYC verification, not their Aadhaar number.

So, if you’re asking if you can utilise a masked Aadhaar card for future KYC/e-KYC verifications, the answer is yes. To keep your Aadhaar number secure and prevent misuse, we recommend that you only use the masked Aadhaar card from now on.
